M.V. JOY FISHING CLUB RULES - 2011

 1.    Members intending to fish must book with the Commodore at the monthly meetings.

 2.    Members unable to attend meeting but who wish to be considered for the next trip must first submit their 
       apologies to a Club Officer and indicate their wish to fish on the next trip.

 3.    The Commodore will apply the following criteria for trip selection:-

       a. The Commodore.
       b. Financial Members attending the Meeting and wishing to go.
       c. Financial Members who normally* attend Meetings and Fishing Trips but are unable to attend Meeting and
           have tendered their apologies and expressed a wish to go. (*Normally = at least 50% of Meetings & Trips)
       d. Guests and Potential Members attending Meeting who wish to go fishing.
       e. All other Members or Guests who the Commodore can find for the trip.
       f.  Ballot for places (within the group which exceeds quota) if too many. 
           Balloted-out Members automatically go next time and go to the bottom of the list for being balloted out
           again. 
       g. If the above criteria results in Potential Members or Guests being unable to secure a fishing spot on one or
           more consecutive occasions, the Commodore will attempt to organise an extra trip for them and fill any
           remaining vacancies with Members who also wish to go.

 4. 
CANCELLATIONS BY TRIP NON-ATTENDEES MUST BE MADE TO THE COMMODORE SEVEN (7) DAYS
      PRIOR TO THE TRIP, OTHERWISE TRIP FEE MUST BE PAID
- (Unless a replacement can be found).

 5.  Draw for fishing position on boat.

 6. TRACES:- Maximum length 1.2 metres (1,200 mm) - Monofilament only – 2 Hooks maximum
                   (Sabiki excepted)    -    Keeper Hook counts as 1 of the 2 hooks.

 7. LINE:-       Monofilament of appropriate breaking strain unless trip conditions or Skipper advise Commodore
                    that Braid is the most appropriate line - Deep water, etc. (Braid saws through other lines easily)

 8. SINKERS:- As appropriate to conditions and getting progressively heavier towards bow to reduce tangling other
                     fishos.

 9. Sweep to be held for heaviest Snapper and heaviest Odd/Target Fish.

10. Each Financial Member on a Club Trip catching a Snapper weighing 1.5 Kg or more on the West Coast
     (or 2 Kg or more on the East Coast) will qualify for a Silver Pin Award - Maximum of 1 Pin per Member
     per Club Trip. (Club Trips are defined as trips open to the whole Club Membership and having at least four
     Financial Members present)

11. Gold Award Pins are awarded as each fifth Silver Award Pin becomes due. (Previous four Silver Pins are
      then redeemed).

12. NO DE-SCALING OF FISH ON BOAT. No bait or innards dumping overboard while Members are still fishing.
     Fish may still be cleaned or filleted but all discards must be retained until all fishing ceases before being
     disposed of.

13. If Fishos nearing their quota wish to help others, they must do so BEFORE they reach their own quota limit.
      i.e. When they are at least 1 short of their quota. Donated fish are not to be counted in points totals by the
      recipient.
